Leaving Hospital - The Experience of Being Discharged

Date: 25 Feb 2021 - 11:00 to 12:00

Leaving hospital during the pandemic has been very different compared to what it was like pre-lockdown. So much has changed that it has affected patients far more.

From 20th March 2020 the government issued new national guidance concerning hospital discharge, that all NHS Trusts, Community Health Services and Social Care Providers should adhere to. Under the new guidance acute and community hospitals are required to discharge patients from their care as soon as it is deemed clinically safe to do so. Information explaining the new discharge process was to be given to all patients when admitted to hospital.

What is your experience of hospital discharge? Perhaps a relative or friend has had that experience?

How well did the process serve people who were being discharged into care homes or needing care support at home?
