Changes to Disability Services in the Local Borough of Barking and Dagenham

17/05/2017

The service brings together the formerly separate teams for disabled children and adults into an integrated, single service for people with lifelong disabilities, irrespective of age. The aim is to help disabled people live as independently as possible, through early planning, and to remove some of the barriers that affect people transferring between children and adults social care services. Over the coming months the service will be working with disabled clients, their families, carers and friends, to draw up a life plan for every service user that needs one. The aim is to help disabled residents to start planning their future care and support needs earlier and, at the same time, to help planning so that the providers can respond to these needs in the best possible way in a timely and cost-effective manner.
