The Value of Listening: Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham Annual Report 2023-24
We are pleased to publish our Annual Report for 2023-24; The Value of Listening.
With projects ranging from looking at antenatal care in North East London, to access to social care for the South Asian community, our Annual Report demonstrates the continuing impact of Healthwatch during a busy year for the Healthwatch team.
Key takeaways:
- Engaging with Residents: We have maintained regular face-to-face interactions with local people, enabling them to share their experiences with the health and social care system.
- Making Recommendations Based on Resident Experiences and Feedback: Our work is driven by the voices of the residents, ensuring their feedback shapes our recommendations.
- Providing Solutions to Service Providers and Commissioners: By collaborating with service providers and commissioners, we offer solutions aimed at improving service delivery based on community input.
- Ensuring We Make a Tangible Impact on Those Using Services: Our goal is to create meaningful changes that directly benefit those who use health and social care services.
Healthwatch exists to listen to everyone’s voices, and we strive to be as accessible as possible. Over the past year, we have continued to offer regular face-to-face opportunities for local people to talk to us and share their experiences of the health and social care system.
Our strong working relationship with the Integrated Care System and partners continues, allowing us to represent local people's views and experiences and challenge decision-makers. Additionally, we collaborated with other local Healthwatch organizations in North East London on three projects, which are detailed in the report.
Looking ahead, we will continue to:
- Help people find out about local health and social care services.
- Listen to feedback on those services.
- Improve service quality by informing providers, commissioners, and the Government about people’s experiences and needs.
- Encourage service providers to involve people in changes to their services.
