NHS Launches Spring Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout in North East London

11/04/2025

NHS teams across north east London are administering Spring Covid-19 vaccines, with GPs cautioning that the virus "continues to pose a danger to those most at risk."

Since the national booking system opened on March 25, many eligible individuals have already scheduled their Covid-19 booster jab, resulting in thousands of vaccinations. However, vulnerable groups, including those aged 75 and older, residents of care homes, and immunosuppressed individuals, are encouraged to promptly arrange their appointments. Immunosuppressed people, such as those with certain cancers, transplant recipients, and those living with HIV, should make sure they get vaccinated if eligible. If there is uncertainty regarding eligibility, individuals should reach out to their GP or specialist.

Anyone eligible can easily book their vaccinations through the NHS App, the NHS.uk website, by calling 119 for free, or through an invitation from their GP practice. The Covid-19 vaccine offers crucial protection against multiple variants of the virus, reduces the likelihood of infection and transmission, and helps prevent hospitalisation. Additionally, the NHS is encouraging those aged 75 to 79 (or those who turned 80 since 1 September 2024) and pregnant women from 28 weeks to receive the RSV vaccine by scheduling an appointment with their GP practice or contacting their maternity services.
