Take advantage of your free lung health check!
23/01/2024
Targeted Lung Health Checks are a free lung test available to everyone who has ever smoked and is between the ages of 55 and 74. Those in Tower Hamlets and Barking & Dagenham who are registered with a GP can get this check (they will also be extended to other regions of northeast London).
Getting a clear view of your lungs is the goal. The sooner something that requires attention is discovered, the higher the likelihood that treatment will be effective. Please make sure to take advantage of this free opportunity to take care of your health if you receive a letter inviting you to a lung health check. Even if you feel fine, you should still visit the doctor because lung issues can develop early and not show any signs. An appointment for a Lung Health Check consists of two steps. The first is a medical expert assessment, and the second is a CT scan of your lungs if you are eligible.
If you missed your check do not worry, it is not too late. You can contact the team via email at nel.lunghealthcheck@nhs.net or phone them on 020 3839 8911.
